Celebrated Ghanaian Soldier Lt. General Emmanuel Erskine Is Dead

Retired and celebrated Ghanaian military officer, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Alexander Erskine, has died at age 86.Lieutenant General Emmanuel Alexander Erskine was the first commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) from 1978 to 1981.Born on January 19, 1935, he left behind a wife and eight children.Aside from being the first commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, he was also a former Chief of Army Staff of the Ghana Army.He had his training at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst and attended the Staff College, Camberley in England.Lt. Gen.
