Just In: Sunyani High Court Places Injunction On UENR Alumni Election

The Sunyani High Court has placed an interlocutory injunction on the 2021 Alumni election of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) slated for Saturday, December 18, 2021.Court documents dated December 17, 2021, and sighted by GhanaXtra.com among other things have barred the Electoral Commission-UENR Alumni and the UENR Alumni Council from going ahead with the process.The court has also restrained Mr. Lewis Ofori Amankona, the 3rd respondent from holding himself out as the Chairman of the UENR Alumni Council.The documents read in parts as: “Please take notice that Bright Febiri Esq. of Nkrabea Chambers, Sunyani, Council for and on behalf of the plaintiff/applicant herein will move the honourabe court praying for an order of interlocutory injunction to restrain the 1st Defendant/Respondent, its agents, privies, assigns, workmen, etc from conducting the upcoming UENR Alumni elections on Saturday, December 18, 2021…”The motion was filed by lawyer Bright Febiri on behalf of the plaintiff, Peter Kofi Ania, an alumnus of the University and an Alumni Council Chairman aspirant.According to the plaintiff, regulations laid down for the conduct of the election are untested and untried which makes the election susceptible to manipulation to the advantage of the 3rd respondent.The motion will be moved on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.Call our Editor on 0209391902 or click here and inform us via Whatsapp. You could equally email your stories or articles to [email protected] and we’ll surely put them online
