Ghanaian youngster Nathan Opoku joins Leicester City
Leicester City has officially announced the acquisition of Ghanaian prodigy, Nathan Opoku. The 21-year-old striker joins the English Premier League side from Syracuse University in the United States and has signed a three-year contract with the club.
As part of his development, Opoku will be loaned out to Belgian-based Oud-Heverlee Leuven immediately after signing with Leicester City. The young forward made a name for himself in the United States, being named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the National Collegiate Athletic Association last year, scoring 11 goals and assisting 8 others for Syracuse.
Before moving to the United States, Opoku had a brief stint at the Manchester City academy. In his farewell message, he expressed his excitement about returning to Europe, saying he was thrilled to be making the transition to professional soccer and was grateful to his current home, Syracuse University for the beautiful time opportunity to grow as a player.
